Yes, Dr. Phil--Going With My Inner Fascist IS Working For Me!

It's becoming common knowledge that Obama supporters:
- send threatening emails to everyone who expresses the slightest doubt about the voracity of their precious one. (http://wilknetwork.com/Stop-The-Smears-And-The-Threats/2408982)
- use Google's anti-spam feature to shut down dissenting blogs. (JustSayNoDeal.com)
- fill their blog comments with expletives and epithets--usually along the lines of "you are so *ing dumb you don't *ing deserve to live...."
- publish the personal information (SSNs, home addresses, names of children, etc) of dissenters to intimidate them. (http://caosblog.com/79350)
- and even go so far as to have Joe Biden's son sign an arrest warrant in an attempt to quell a citizen’s right to free speech at a press conference (http://citizenwells.wordpress.com/2008/06/28/).
Often, the victims display a delightful, in-your-face American spunkiness (think Boston Tea Party) when threatened with these tactics. JustSayNoDeal.com’s constituent websites thumbed their noses (blog style) at the Obamapunks as they reopened for business at Wordpress.com. Others have fought back by filing charges. But sometimes, the thugs succeed.
Today I heard about a new website that was spearheading a petition drive to ask the Obama campaign to provide a certified paper copy of Obama’s birth certificate. This is a reasonable request. Mounting evidence (http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Politics/12956.htm) makes it all but certain that the electronic copy on Kos and Obama’s “Fight The Smears” websites are forged or at least tampered with and no one can understand why the campaign would need to do that unless they are hiding something.
So I clicked on the link to the website and a cold lump formed in my stomach. In all my fifty-four years as an American citizen, I had never seen, first hand, what it looks like when someone’s free speech is abruptly suppressed by threats of violence. Under the website title flag, all the verbiage about the petition was gone and instead was this:
"Petition Closed
A veiled threat was made against myself and my family which included our home address, so I have decided to close the petition for good. It is truly sad that political discourse in our country has come to this.
For those who signed the petition:
Thank you for your support. whom I have somehow offended:
Please accept my apologies. I have nothing against Barack Obama and sincerely believe that he will do what he thinks is best for this country should he be elected."
The creator of this website(www.birthcertificatenow.com) was afraid for his or her family’s safety. Just let that sink in. From now on, anyone who wants to question Obama’s background or even disagree with his policies is running the risk of being tracked down by these fascist cult members and having their families harmed. Sure, they could file charges but that doesn’t mean the authorities will do anything about it as in this case.(http://larrysinclair0926.wordpress.com/2008/06/29/)(scroll to bottom on this link)
Yes, Dr. Phil, it’s working for them and that just means they feel empowered.
Here is a Wikipedia excerpt from the description of fascism:
"Former Columbia University Professor Robert O. Paxton has written that:
Fascism may be defined as a form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victim-hood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy, and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic liberties and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion."
Paxton further defines fascism's essence as:
...1. a sense of overwhelming crisis beyond reach of traditional solutions; 2. belief one’s group is the victim, justifying any action without legal or moral limits; 3. need for authority by a natural leader above the law, relying on the superiority of his instincts; 4. right of the chosen people to dominate others without legal or moral restraint; 5. fear of foreign `contamination."
It sounds like the shoe, or boot--fits…
The easy way is to highlight the text you are quoting in the "comment" box, then click the little smiley-face widget.

Could someone tell me how to get that big gray quote and indentation in your blog? I do mine in word and then transfer it over and I tried everything I could think of and couldn't get it to work. Thanks!
